Mitsubishi Laser-TV -> LaserVue

Mitsubishi held its annual dealer line show last week in Huntington Beach, Calif., and the major news was that Mitsubishi has named its recently announced Laser TV, which will be branded as LaserVue and it will be available to consumers in the 3rd Quarter of 2008. More information on the LaserVue will come closer to its release date.

We sat down with David Naranjo, director of product development at Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America, for additional thoughts on the new LaserVue technology, “LaserVue will offer the viewer twice the amount of color than other displays on the market today. The reds are so vivid, they have to be seen to be believed. When we did our avarage consumer comparison testing one of the comment’s I heard was, “Oh my god, the color is so pure.” Also with our commitment to energy savings, LaserVue displays will use half the power of other comparable displays with the same screen sizes on the market today; we really are comparing apples to apples.”

The first laser TV from Mitsubishi is supposedly going to be a 65” model. Mitsubishi shows that model at the CES-2008 in Las Vegas. The TV will be able to display twice the colors of standard or even current HD televisions.

Mitsubishis Laser-TVs named LaserVUE category introduction represents a significant milestone in Mitsubishis strategy to lead the large-format, high-definition television space and meet the growing consumer demand for recher, entertainment experience.

Mitsubishi has harnessed its worldwide leadership in precision laser technology to produce the first ever laser powered television, delivering a range of color never before seen in home entertainment.
