OIDA Discusses Displays at LED EXPO 2007

Dr. Michael Lebby, president and CEO of the Optoelectronics Industry Development Association (OIDA) in Washington, DC kicked off the two-day FPD Seminar at LED Expo in Seoul, Korea with an overview of the optoelectronics and display markets. He was also co-chair the 2007 FPD Seminar with Dr. Jang Hyok Kwon, professor at Kyung Hee University in Seoul, Korea. After a successful launch in 2006 as a one-day program, the FPD Seminar was expanded in 2007 to a full two-day schedule held on May 30 and 31. Speakers for the program included a roster of industry thought leaders from Korea and abroad.
Display markets are on a better than 11% compound growth trend," said Dr. Lebby. "And while LCDs will dominate for the near term, laser TV at the large end and OLED displays at the small end will make significant inroads." He also noted that mobile projection will be a key new application segment with no obvious technology winner yet. Lastly, in 10 years, 3D displays and flexible displays will be key new applications. As part of his presentation, Dr. Lebby presented some OIDA display roadmaps

OIDA has new or revised roadmaps for LCDs, OLEDs, and Projection Displays available exclusively to members. OIDA market summaries for the display market are published annually and also available to members for 6 months prior to general market availability.
