Kolin launches 65-inch full HD LCD TV

Kolin recently introduced a 65-inch 1080p LCD TV that will be sold in both the Taiwan and overseas markets this year, and the company indicated that it plans to make a stronger push into the European market next year by launching 32- and 37-inch LCD TV models there in the first half of 2008.

The new Kolin 65-inch full HD LCD TV (KLT-6568) is priced at NT$ 298,000 (US$9162) and features an LCD panel from Sharp with a contrast ratio of 2,000:1 and a 6ms response time. Kolin expects demand for the KLT-6568 to surpass 3,000 units in the Taiwan market this year, while overseas sales will account for another 5,000 shipments.

Kolin chairman CL Liu added that the company expects to ship 1.2 million LCD TVs in 2007 and its shipments should exceed two million units in 2008.

Currently, North America and China are Kolin's main international markets, accounting for 90% of the company's LCD TV shipments. However, Liu stated that Kolin has a positive outlook for the European market, as the company has already set up its retail channels in European countries such as England, France, and Germany. The company is currently also searching for assembly facilities in Europe, though production and development of products will continue to be carried out in Taiwan.
