Canon set focus to OLED and SED-TV

Canon Incorporated has entered the third phase of its Excellent Global Corporation Plan (which will run from 2006 to 2010) with a goal of attaining global sales revenues of 6 trillion yen or US$50 billion in 2010, according to company president and COO Tsuneji Uchida speaking at the Canon Asia Expo 2007 which opened in Beijing on November 16.

Canon estimates its 2007 global sales revenues at 4.56 trillion yen (US$41.2 billion), ranking among the top-500 enterprises around the world, Uchida indicated. Canon will keep its operational focus on its image business, aiming to maintain its global market status in digital cameras and printers and continue R&D of new technologies such as OLED and SED (surface-condition electron-emitter display), Uchida pointed out. While having stepped into large-format printers for only a few years, Canon has successfully developed a complete product line with format sizes ranging from 17- to 60-inches, Uchida noted.
