According to Arasor vice president, Scott Wilkie, Mitsubishi – the major company backing the technology – could launch laser TV models as early as Christmas this year in the US with Australia to launch 12 to 18 months later than the "important markets" like the US, in Mitsubishi's words.
Arasor is a developer of integrated optoelectronic and wireless solutions in Australia and in conjunction with a US-based company called Novalux it manufactures a key component of the laser TV which enhances the image quality and performance of the technology along with delivering rich content to consumers.
Mitsubishi vice president – marketing and product development told the New York Times last year that his company would unveil the first large-screen laser TV model at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this January.
