Arasor makes alliance with China's ZTE

The optical chip manufacturer Arasor has formed a $US300 million ($333.76 million) joint venture with ZTE, China's largest listed provider of telecommunications and network equipment.

The alliance would seek to commercialise laser-based display products to be used in televisions, projectors, mobile phones, PDAs and notebooks.

In a statement to the Australian Securities Exchange, Arasor said it would own 51 per cent of the yet-to-be-named company, which commences operations in the first quarter of 2008.

While no initial production numbers were divulged, Arasor expects the joint venture to eventually produce six million laser sources and 2.4 million "light engines" for mobile phones per annum.

No word about the roll out of laser TV by the end of 2007. They also claimed that they had a major deal with Mitsubishi for the roll out of laser TV as a competitor to both LCD TV and plasma.

Let´s look at CES-2008 if Mitsubishi shows some Laser-Television product.
